The guides in our Resources section exist to help property owners, real estate agents, investors, and developers understand how direct real estate acquisition works — including the situations where it isn't the right fit. This page explains how those guides are researched, written, and maintained.
Who writes our guides
Our guides are written by the Mac Capital Investments acquisitions team — the people who evaluate properties, land, and development opportunities for the company. You can read more about who we are and how we operate on our About page.
How we research
- Every guide is researched against current, publicly available sources: market reports and data providers, government and court resources, established real estate publications, and local news coverage of the markets we write about.
- Where a guide draws on outside sources, we list them at the end of the article so readers can check the underlying information themselves.
- Figures such as prices, inventory, timelines, and program funding are rounded and described directionally (“roughly,” “around”). Real estate data changes quickly and often differs between sources; when sources disagree, we describe the trend rather than asserting a single precise number.
- We do not invent statistics, and we do not make claims about our own transaction volume, timelines, or outcomes in our guides.
Our perspective, disclosed
Mac Capital Investments is a principal buyer: we acquire property directly, with our own capital. We are not a brokerage, agency, or intermediary. Our guides naturally explain how a direct sale works, and they also present listing on the open market and other alternatives as legitimate options — because for many properties they are. Where a guide describes when a direct sale fits, it also describes when it doesn't.
What our guides are not
Our guides are general information. They are not legal, tax, financial, or investment advice, and they do not account for the specifics of your property, your state, or your situation. Topics such as probate, divorce, foreclosure, and taxes vary meaningfully by jurisdiction. Before acting, consult a licensed professional — an attorney, a CPA, or, for mortgage hardship, a HUD-approved housing counselor.
Dates, updates, and corrections
- Each guide displays its publication date. Market figures reflect what was current when the guide was written.
- We update guides when the facts they rely on change materially, and we correct errors when they are brought to our attention.
